Commitment in the face of conflict produces character.

Sorry this is a bit late

My journey this week has been rough. The Scripture says that He will make the rough places smooth and the crooked places straight.

“I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron.” ~ Isaiah 45:2

“Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight and the rough places plain.” Isaiah 40:4

I know that as I continue to move forward, the path will become clearer to me because I believe that the Scripture is true. I work so hard at my job and many times come home exhausted to find more chores to be done at home. Seems as though children or grandchildren do not know how to become responsible and assume some of that responsibility. I have observed a spirit of procrastination and complacency that is rampant. I also have observed a spirit of laziness that seems to overtake and steal any motivation or self initiative. It is only a ‘giv..me’ attitude that flows. Selfishness is very evident each day, becoming stronger and stronger.

I cry out to God and say “When Lord will these things change?” I had planned an escape this week end. I had planned to slip away quietly off by myself but the Holy Spirit placed a check into my Spirit. He told me to look beyond my own needs into the needs of others. WOW! That is not what I wanted to hear. It is interesting though, as I think about my past, I remember that as I began to focus of others my needs became insignificant and soon resolved. God is so good that way.

I told my granddaughter to be ready on Saturday Morning for a road trip. I then picked up my good friend Norma Jean and we began our weekend journey. First stop at Cracker Barrel to enjoy a dynamic breakfast. I realized that God had a purpose in the week end so I was very open. Speaking to my granddaughter (who is 20yrs old) I said, “Be very attentive to the happenings over this trip because the Holy Spirit is going to reveal some things.” Interestingly enough, she said OK.

As we embarked upon the road again, we listened to a dynamic audio lecture by Robert Kiyosaki about the Business of the 21st Century. This is a CD that goes out with all my 3-day challenges for Exfuze. It is an awesome overview of an MLN opportunity. It speaks to how when we begin to give back and help others become successful, we also become successful ourselves. WOW-this began to fit into life in general-not ‘just business’. I thought, “Is it possible that there is a message in this?”

My granddaughter had never met my brother and sister in law. She was now able to interact with family whom she did not even know existed. Isn’t that interesting that in such a society as this, we can live so close together and never interact? A tremendous time of eating fresh tomato sandwiches and bologna….when did you do that the last time? We did nothing but reminisce and hang out. That is kinda like old times isn’t it? Not sure what granddaughter thought, but now I ate it up. ‘Chilling’ was for me this week end.

Now Sunday morning came along and we were not in Louisville so I pulled up Trinity World Outreach on the computer. A little praise and worship and then into the message… Pastor Steve did it again. Now, I did not have this blog written yet but it was in my heart. I had spent several lectures this week discussing time frames, moving forward, procrastinating, not being productive, not being faithful in the ‘little things’ and being just lazy. We have a generation of young people who exemplify these characteristics. I realize that there is an unstable economy but there are things that one can do to become productive. I said several times this week that we have people who want a pay check but do not want to work! We have a generation of kids who want things handed to them on a silver platter but we (the parents or grandparents) have to work to keep that platter polished while the kids enjoy. Well I am tired of supplying the polish. As I heard Pastor Steve’s message I praised God because the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “Right On”.

We must shake free of these bonds that hold us back: procrastination and laziness are 2 of the biggest and most difficult. It is a choice. I have been there and I know from where I have come. We must diligently move forward by making small steps…but we MUST be moving. We cannot allow ourselves to be distracted by life, by friends, by television, computers or even by our job. We have to regain our focus and make a conscious choice to cross over. We must become diligent about our business in life.

If you want something out of life that you have never had, you must do something that you have never done.

We do a great injustice to our children when we do not share the principles that Pastor Steve preached on today. It is time that we stood and made that declaration to this generation…

”GROW UP”…”GET UP FROM THAT COUCH”…”LAY THAT MOUSE DOWN AND THAT CLICKER DOWN”…”DO SOMETHING WITH YOUR LIFE.”

We must help each other become successful but we cannot drag one another. We can walk hand in hand together and accomplish much because ‘Together Everyone Achieves More’. I believe that the work ethics of this generation as a whole must take notice of its roots!

By the end of the day we were on the road again returning to Louisville. The journey had come to an end, but on the other hand, is it just a beginning?
