Friends~ a tribute to Beverly!

Posted By on May 28, 2011

I was wondering what this week’s blog was going to be about and I quickly remembered that my friend’s birthday was June 11th. The blog this week is on FRIENDS. We all need friends. Like the song says, I am a friend of God!!!!

I met Beverly many years ago at a small Assembly of God in Pea Ridge Florida. I was born in Pensacola and had just returned to the state with my family. We immediately became great friends thus with much history since then. These pages would not contain the many hours we have spent together. So, I will briefly overview some of the highlights.

Beverly was working in a hardware store at this time. She had her husband with 2 girls. I had my husband 3 boys and 1 girl. We shared trial and ‘tribs’ with our children… (And our spouses). Beverly was there with Jenny got married. She helped me with preparations and the excitement of ‘giving my daughter away’. I was there when she felt like she wanted to ‘murder’ her daughter! WOW! Haven’t we all been there? Beverly was there when Jenny’s daughter was drowned in my pool and God miraculously revived her! I was there when Beverly said she wanted to change her career. She went to school and graduated as a Registered Nurse!

We shared good times and bad times. We moved apart and had no contact for a while but when the chips were down…that friendship was still there. Beverly was there when my husband was going through a battle within himself. She stood by me when he was taken home. Beverly was there when my granddaughter was injured and stood beside me through those trying times. She was there when I went to New Zealand and was waiting when I returned. Beverly has made many trips home with me to visit my family and her friends. She traveled to Africa with me on a medical mission trip…An awesome time of endurance and ‘eye opening experiences’ in a 3rd world country. Beverly traveled with me to New Zealand and to Australia, again to share a different type of culture and to make new friends.

Most of all, Beverly stood with me with my diagnosis of CANCER. She walked beside me all the way. She was there when the doctor said, “You have breast cancer-bone cancer with brain metz.” She was there when I had surgery. She never left my side. She was also there when the PET scan said, “all is completely resolved”. Beverly has been with me when I was sad, when I was mad and even when I was wrong. She has been with me in the good times and happy times and she remains to be my friend.

Beverly…may your days be filled with happiness and joy…particularly this day of your birth. May I always be your friend and know that I will always be there for you as you have been there for me.
I love you. Enjoy this memory lane of photos knowing that these are only a few of many in our hearts.

Friends are special and so hard to find,
Those that smile and are always so kind.

They stand beside you on very bad days,
Giving strength and soft comfort
In so many ways.

Life’s everyday trials can be so unfair,
But I’ll get through each one,
Because I know you are there.

How did I find a friend that’s so nice,
It wasn’t just luck or a roll of the dice.
Life is a path that has many a stone,
The walk I find easier not being alone.

We share so very much
The highs and the lows.
Still with each passing day
How our friendship still grows.

You always put a smile on my face,
Other friends I may make,
But they won’t take your place.

Now and for always from now till the end,
I will always be here for you.
