Commitment in the face of conflict produces character.

Have you crossed over yet?

This is a question that each of us must ask ourselves.  I know that I have many times.  There are moments that I feel as though I am headed across and there are times that I sense something tugging at my shirt tails.

I am in Florida this week and attended a church that I had grown up in.  Of course the 8 people who attended made me think of Noah’s Ark.  They are all very loving people who love the Lord with all their heart but have remained in the Ark for the past 50years.  But you know, the message was from the very heart of God Himself.  “Is it well with your soul?”  A tremendous message about a man who lost his family yet he held on to his faith, knowing that ‘it was well with his soul”.   I thought about the message and I thought about our families.  Many times we hold anger and aught with those whom we care about, not thinking that they could be taken from us at any moment.  I remember as a teenager my best friend never left her home until she told her parents, “I love you.”  I asked her one day why she did this.  (The wisdom in a child)  She said to me that should something happen, she wanted her last words to be, “I love you.”  Coming from a background of abuse, I did not understand what she meant, but it stuck with me through the years.  I know now what she meant.  Words create a positive atmosphere or a negative atmosphere.  We as Christians must learn to create a positive atmosphere for those who are around us and particularly for those of our family.  We must learn to ‘let go’ of aught and anger because this is a weight that will most assuredly tug at your shirt tails.  This is a weight that will keep us from crossing over.  Listening to this man preach, reminded me that we must have a pure heart without the burden of anger and aught towards our brother.  I visited with my sister for this week which was wonderful.  I re-visited other members of my family whom I have not seen in years.  I listened to many waves of hurt, anger and misunderstanding.  God reminded me of how turbulent the times were when Noah built the ark.  He spoke to me and said that we should ‘let go’ and enter the Ark of safety…that is into His arms.

Is it well with your soul?  Have you let go of those things that can keep you from crossing over?
When was the last time you told your spouse you loved him/her?  When did you tell your children that you love them?  What is tugging at your shirt tail, keeping your from crossing over?

prayer this week is that we can all let go of our past hurts and anger. RUN into His Arms.
